Rolfing® - Structural Integration is a system of hands-on body work to help align the body within gravity. It focuses on the fascia (connective tissue) but involves the whole body. Rolfing can significantly improve mental and physical well being and train body awareness and perception. It can offer the client a transformative process to discover more rest, lightness and energy in the body.
Rolfing is named after biochemist Dr. Ida Rolf (1896 – 1979), who developed Rolfing Structural Integration in the middle of the 20th century. Ida drew inspiration from homeopathy, osteopathy, chiropractic, yoga, Alexander Technique, and Korzybski’s work on states of consciousness.
The Rolfing process was typically designed in a series of 10 sessions, each session with a different focus in the body.
When I first received a Rolfing session I was fascinated with the specific quality of touch; deep and non-invasive at the same time, sensitive, versatile and efficient. I remember the feeling in my body after the first session, a feeling of spaciousness and grounding, of connection and lightness. The wish to learn more about this practice was growing in me over several years until I received my training at the European Rolfing Association in Munich from 2020-2023. My practices as a dancer, performer and hands-on bodyworker inform and inspire each other. I see a session as a creative dialogue making space for experience, movement and connections. I am happy to be able to share this somatic practice with other people. If you are interested, please don't hesitate to contact me for further information or booking an appointment.
